Building Rolling Owl Stools

Posted on: October 11th, 2012 by Geoffrey Warner 6 Comments

You may think that you’re looking at Santa’s Workshop…

We’ve got a seat for you!

…and you’d be right, after all even the big guy needs helpers!  Geoff & the crew are busy getting ready for the holiday season.  The first batch of cherry & walnut seats are sanded and ready for their coats of natural tung oil.

In our new addition, we’re assembling the many Rolling Owl bases that just arrived from our Maine powder-coater. Each of the staff has a favorite color.  If Buddy the Elf were here, he’d ask “What’s your favorite color?” — Big Smile Red, Lobstah Orange, Her Eye’s in Blue, Night Owl Black, Tropical Blue or Foggy Morning Green?

Rolling Owl Stool bases just arrived from the powder-coater. Love those colors!

Polly loves to help!

Once the bases are assembled and the tung oil dries on each seat, the base is paired with either a walnut or cherry seat.  With the fall season in full swing the Lobstah Orange base with a walnut seat and the Foggy Morning Green with a walnut seat have been very popular!

For those who are not familiar with the Owl Stool, be sure to read the Anatomy of an Owl.  Our Owls are more than just a stool–they’re the best seat in house!  The postural support holes literally let you sit hours without fatigue.

As always, we appreciate your support and hope that you’re enjoying everything that the Fall season has to offer!

Geoff  & the Owl Team

NEXT OWL Stool Workshop is Wednesday 10/17/12 – call to register.

Our Studio is open year round, 10-4 Tues-Friday and other days by chance or appointment.   207.367.6555  ~ www.geoffreywarnerstudio.com

Owl Perch Stool Soars to Common Ground Fair

Posted on: September 18th, 2012 by Geoffrey Warner No Comments

This month, Geoffrey Warner Studio introduced the Owl Perch Stool and the Owl Bar Stool.  See and test Your seat on these new Stools at the Common Ground Fair in Unity, ME September 21-23. These new Owl products are a direct response to customers asking for taller stools for kitchens, offices, and family craft areas. The Owl Perch Stool uses a stationary steel base and the seat adjusts from 22” to 30”.  The all-wooden Owl Bar Stool may be ordered in customized heights from 25″-32″.

Both stools are designed with the ergonomic Owl Seat–available in cherry or walnut. The postural support holes relieve spine tension and allows sitting for hours without fatigue.

When asked about the colors for the Owl Perch, Geoffrey Warner explained “Our colors are inspired by Nanne Kennedy’s wonderful seacolors yarn –and we enjoy bringing lighthearted humor and out-of-the-box thinking to everything we do!” The Owl Perch base is available in six colors:  Foggy Morning Green, Her Eye’s in Blue, Night Owl Black, Lobstah Orange, Tropical Blue and Big Smile Red.

The New Owl Perch Stool adjusts from 22″-30″ and the base is available in six colors.

To see the Owl Perch being tested, view our video from the September 7th Gallery Open House:

Walnut Sofa Tables from Start to Finish

Posted on: July 18th, 2012 by Geoffrey Warner 2 Comments

This week, Geoffrey Warner Studio was buzzing with the creation of two Live Edge Sofa Tables.  Constructed of fine walnut, these two book-match tables measured 60 in x 16-18 in x 29 in.

Geoff used European Walnut for the tops and American Walnut for the bases.  The knee braces not only add a beautiful design element, but also make the tables incredibly strong.  Geoff used mortise & floating tenon joinery throughout the tables.  Watch the table assembly….and start dreaming of the perfect live edge piece for your home!

As always, we appreciate your interest in our furniture!  Don’t forget to visit us at the Stonington Farmer’s Market on Fridays from 10-12 and see you this weekend July 21-22 at the Blue Hill Fine Craft Show.  Come try an Owl Stool!

Next stop is the Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors show–mark your calendars for August 10-12 in Rockland, ME

Geoff Goes Undercover!

Posted on: June 13th, 2012 by Geoffrey Warner 2 Comments

Usually Geoff completes his custom woodworking projects in the shop, but occasionally he must add the finishing touches on-site.

As we described in an earlier Custom Doors blog, Geoff recently made four wooden live edge doors for a NYC family.  During the installation, he needed to get creative and used a sheet as a dust catcher when he routed the doors for the on-site fitting.  For a chuckle, checkout the brief  “Geoff Goes Undercover” video.  Here’s an image of two installed doors–the live edge tree panels are frame by mahogany:

During the last blog, we mentioned the great article in July Issue of Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors, here’s a link to the article if you haven’t seen the issue yet.

For folks in the Stonington Maine area, see you at the Farmer’s Market on Friday, 10-12!

Come try an Owl Stool — a great wooden stool for Kitchens, Living Rooms & Offices!
