Yipee! Common Ground Fair: Sept. 20-22

Posted on: September 18th, 2013 by Geoffrey Warner No Comments

Join Geoff & Iana at the Common Ground Fair, September 20-22 in Unity, Maine.

This is one of The best fairs I’ve ever attended. The variety and talent of craftspeople, the quality of the education sessions, the fun of the livestock, and of course the delicious food, make the Common Ground Fair a memorable experience every year.  I, of course, also love the MUSIC and dancing…if I’m not in the booth….follow the music, I’ll have my guitar and fiddle with me!

The Common Ground Fair is an opportunity to reward Maine’s artists and entrepreneurs for following their heart and trying to make a living doing what they love!  It’s also time to reward yourself by bringing beautiful objects into your home, trying a new food–or learn about a new skill such as spinning, mushroom foraging or bee keeping! It’s a time to have an adventure for the senses, take a moment to watch and hear the kids giggling as they slide down the hill on their cardboard sleds, touch the gorgeous fleece and felt products, cheer for the parade, see the beautiful jewelry and paintings and taste something sweet or spicy.

The best way to enjoy the fair is to get a program paper in advance or visit the MOFGA website to review all the events.  The website allows you to bookmark your favorite events or sync them to your phone.  Be sure to also “schedule” some free time to wander…and warning, you may want to go more than one day once you see all the offerings!

When you get tired of walking, stop by the Geoffrey Warner Studio booth located in the Maine Marketplace tent.  We’ll have our selection of Owl Stools to help you relax your feet and your back.  And yes, similar to the other vendors, we will offer some show specials!  You can also order at the show and have the product shipped — a great way to hide the holiday gift for your special someone!

Welcome Hanna! & New Video Testimonial

Our new Owl Stool shop assistant, Hanna, is already flying solo.  Her attention to detail is helping to create beautiful Owl Stools.  Below Hanna is working on the final sanding process for a variety of Owl Stools.  We have short stools, tall stools and stools that watch you while you work!

Thank you to all HOOOO stopped by our booth last weekend at the Maine Boats, Homes & Harbor show!  What a great event.  Our corner booth allowed our custom furniture on one side and Owl Stools on the other side.  Below, Iana takes a well deserved break!

Family Vacation–Owl Style

Posted on: July 24th, 2013 by Geoffrey Warner No Comments

Family Vacation–Owl Style.  Summer is filled with adventures and this month, families from Massachusetts & Virgina spent a day with Geoff building Owl Stools at the Geoffrey Warner Studio in Stonington, Maine.

In the Owl Stool Workshop, Geoff taught the families how to attach the legs with all-wooden joinery, trim the front legs to create the stool’s ergonomic tilt, and carefully sand the walnut or cherry seats and ash legs. The workshop ends with everyone applying the first coat of natural tung oil on their new Owl Stools–and watching the beautiful wood grain pop out!  A day of laughter and learning created great memories for all.

Next workshop with availability is Wednesday, August 21st or groups of 4 or more may arrange a private date.
