Everyone walked out the door with a sense of accomplishment, a memorable experience, and a completed Owl stool.

Spring is always a busy time of year, getting ready for the many summer visitors who come to enjoy our beautiful island.
Albert Einstein once said “The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.” I’m happy for that, as we have been juggling many projects over the past few months. This past winter Willow received a major structural restoration. Dana replaced fourteen new frames then Jasmine applied two fresh coats of varnish and paint to her hull readying her for the summer charter season. We will be launching her soon to sail passengers out around the islands from Stonington. Some sailors refer to our thorofare as one of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world. Call or visit Willow’s website for more on reserving a half or full day charter at http://sailwillow.com/
Recently we received a Good Idea Grant from the Maine Arts Commission to help in creating new Owl furniture designs. The first addition will be the rolling Owl, the Owl seat sets on a laminated ash pedestal and casters with an adjustment ability to sit from 17” to 25” high. Soon to follow will be a series of desks and tables emphasizing a newly designed nouveauish leg and brace structure. Owl and Owl Furniture are now registered trademarks!
Now that the two chair commissions are sent off and Willow is ready, It is time for finishing up the Koa desk and a fourteen foot long live edge walnut counter, destined for house on a neighboring island. Here are a few pictures showing the installation of butterfly joints. They will keep the checks in this 33” wide Koa board from traveling any further.
Coming up soon, more Owl stool workshops on the first and third Wednesdays of each month and our first gallery opening night on July 1st at 4:00. Come and join us for a glass of wine. Live music will also be served.
We wish to thank all of you who have supported us while tacking through a long cold winter and through a gusty economy. We are still sailing and the wind is warm now. Inspite of my multi tasking abilities thank you Albert Einstein for the reminder that everything doesn’t happen at once, even though sometimes it seems to.
After helping out with a variety of projects, from completing two sets of chairs, to varnishing Willow our 32′ classic sailboat, Jasmine in off to new horizons. Pictured below we are unloading a beautiful 14″ long walnut board designated to be a kitchen counter bar outward bound to a nearby island. We will, hopefully make the delivery via. Willow with her shiny newly painted bootstripe. We took Jasmine out for a fair well lunch at Lilys.
Best of luck to one Awesome friend and worker. May your sails billow as you gracefully tack with the wind at your back!
We love you !
